The debate between which is the better cookie (the Oreo, or the classic Chocolate Chip) is as old as time, but this cookie here....well, that just puts the whole thing to rest. And why choose? I mean, really...who eats just ONE cookie anyway, right? Okay, well maybe now you will, because these puppies are SERIOUSLY huge, but I'm just saying...
And while I will admit to these not being my original recipe (I found them at another blog I happen to come across, love & homemade recipes)...I will say that I am outraged. At myself. For not thinking of it first.
Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies (or Cookie Stuffed Cookies...as I like to call them.)
Ingredients:
2 sticks softened butter
3/4 Cup packed light brown sugar
1 Cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 Tablespoon pure vanilla
3 1/2 Cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
10 oz bag chocolate chips
1 bag Oreo Cookies (I used the double stuff, just because...well, because.)
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cream butter and sugars until well combined (I do this by hand, becasue I don't own a stand mixer. However, if you DO own one...feel free). Add in eggs and vanilla until well combined.
In a separate bowl mix the flour, salt and baking soda. Slowly add to wet ingredients along with chocolate chips until just combined. If your doing this by hand, like me, this could take some work. The original recipe says using a cookie scoop take one scoop of cookie dough and place on top of an Oreo Cookie, then take another scoop of dough and place on bottom of Oreo Cookie. I just used a normal sized ice cream scooper, flattened it out with the palm of my hand and put the Oreo Cookie in the middle.
Seal edges together by pressing and cupping in hand until Oreo Cookie is enclosed with dough. Place onto a parchment or silpat lined baking sheet and bake cookies 9-13 minutes or until cookies are baked to your liking (and let me just tell you, I used my silicone baking sheet...and my cookies took like 20-22 minutes, so just watch them).
Let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.
The recipe states that they make a good two dozen, but good luck with that. I got about 19 out of them, but they really are good sized cookies, I'd say. Definitely a one cookie kind of snack. But don't think that they're big enough to share one....because that's not gonna happen. I would serve with a tall glass of milk, and enjoy!!!
P.S. - Don't think I haven't though of all the other kinds of cookie dough you can wrap around an Oreo either...because I'm WAAAAAY ahead of you. Peanut butter cookies? Yea, I am SO there. Next time.
Talk yo you soon,
